Beck, nel trattamento dei disturbi depressivi, ed è stata utilizzata solo di recente per il trattamento dei disturbi di personalità. Il libro s’ispira sia alla teoria dei disturbi emozionali di Beck, che afferma che ansia e depressione si accompagnano a vere e proprie distorsioni del pensiero, che all’approccio cognitivo di Ellis (1962), che si fonda sul principio che i pensieri disfunzionali siano alla base dei vari disturbi emozionali, e delle conseguenze comportamentali.
Nel libro sono affrontate le convinzioni, le assunzioni disfunzionali che producono a loro volta gli schemi disfunzionali, e i pensieri automatici negativi del paziente. Tale volume è dedicato, a tutti quelli che intendono munirsi di una guida per conoscere e approfondire i temi inerenti, la clinica, e il trattamento dei disturbi psicopatologici. Il volume ha l’intento di rendere agevole l’apprendimento dell’approccio cognitivo – comportamentale, applicato ai casi clinici, specie per un pubblico alle prime esperienze.

Best Maker's Handbook & Introduction to Engineering Skills for the Arduino

Jeremy Blum is the best combination of a formally trained Electronics Engineer and a Maker/Hacker. His excellent video series promulgated through YouTube and Element 14 is the most complete video tutorial on the Arduino available. But, this Maker's Handbook and introductory engineering text is much more than a rehash or paper documentation for his outstanding video series. While the book could stand alone as an excellent practical introduction to the Arduino, it also serves as a clear (and as much as possible no-math) introduction to principles of electronic engineering and computer science, with a little bit of practical physics thrown in. As an easy to follow engineering textbook Jeremy's "Exploring Arduino" offers the most complete explanation of Analog to Digital Conversion, Pulse Width Modulation, USB and Serial Protocols (I2C and SPI), Data Logging and Real Time Clocking, TCP/IP and Web Protocols and the Internet of Things I have found among a plethora of Arduino books. The illustrations are of high quality black and white and sufficient to capture wiring diagrams, schematics, oscilloscope traces program listings, data sheets and parts pictorials. As a Maker's Handbook part kits are available at a discount with the book from Element 14 allowing one to economically duplicate all of Jeremy's experiments.

I highly recommend "Exploring Arduino" as much more than an introduction to this popular microcontroller. He bringhs his skills as a Maker and as an Cornell Master's Degree Electronic Engineer to the best combination of Experimental Handbook for the Arduino and a clear and easy to follow introduction to Electronic Principles.

Very good book - consider the kindle

I somehow ended up with both the paper version and the kindle version. I like them both but the Kindle version has the diagrams in color which is a huge win for me when trying to figure out the breadboard layouts. In the b&w of the book the greys are too hard to distinguish, but in the color version on kindle its much easier to trace the jumpers and read the resistors.

Really good book to go beyond basics with your arduino.

This is the best introductory book into the world of Arduino and micro-controllers in general.....

I have read many books on Arduino, MBED, ARM and PIC, as well as many online tutorials (both free and paid), -and this is by the far the best source of beginner knowledge into the wonderful world of Arduino. In addition to teaching you the fundamentals of Arduino, this book teaches fundamental concepts that can be applied to other platforms and micro-controllers. It is by far the best source of knowledge and most comprehensive introduction that I have found yet, covering many concepts that aren't covered elsewhere. The "to-the-point" teaching style is ingenious, one of a kind and basically forces the student to think and learn in a fun and engaging manner. It is both a great introduction for beginners and a beneficial tutorial for those with intermediate skills. In fact, not only would I recommend this book, but I also see it as a requirement for anyone wanting to break into this rewarding hobby. This is a "one-stop-shop" introduction to the world of Arduino that will save you time, money and many headaches, while keeping the student engaged and interested. If you are just starting out with Arduino, or have taken other courses and tutorials but aren't yet confident enough in your skills, then this is absolutely the best solution you can currently find...

Fantastic!

I am a phd student in robot perception and I was really amazed by this book. At the beginning I thought it was just an introduction to robotics but its much more than that. Many algorithms are explained in a very appealing and simple way. Especially I liked all the perception, localization, and planning chapters. Definitely an excellent book that I strongly recommend to both experts and non.

Great book covering a wide range of topics

I'm in my third year of studies as an undergraduate CS major, and I just read this book over Christmas break. (I admit there is a difference between reading a book and being able to apply all the knowledge contained therein, but I think I did reach a fairly good grasp of the material.)

The most useful parts to me were 1) a derivation of various robot kinematic models, 2) the variety of probabilistic localization models, and 3) the descriptors of basic computer vision algorithms. The book doesn't hold your hand through the *implementation* of anything, which can make it harder to visualize at times. It does provide enough detail, though, that I could implement (with some effort) most, if not all, of the algorithms and techniques in the book. I really liked that this book provided a survey of topics, rather than going into great detail on one particular issue. There are a large number of references (books, websites, and papers) for each topic in the book, so the interested reader can pursue their favorite component of the book further.

I felt the path planning and robot software architecture sections in Ch 6 were a little "rushed" and the vision section seemed long when compared with the rest of the book, but overall the authors spent a suitable amount of time discussing each topic.

Excellent book

Just as the title says, this book introduces the reader to mobile robotics and the aspects that need to be taken into account when designing mobile robots, and it does that in a good way. To be precise, the discussions in the book are quite easy to follow, contributing to a pleasant reading experience; moreover, many useful references are supplementing the topics covered.

That being said, "Introduction to Autonomous Mobile Robots" is probably not the only text that one would consult when working on mobile robotics, as the authors don't go into details for some of the topics, but it is definitely a good start. Give it a try.

Short book, well informed, clear, and GREAT.

I think this book is a MUST read for anyone interested in how Calvin and Wesley differed. The only downside of the book is that it is too short (about 150 pages). However, that may be a plus for people who may not be looking for a book that takes too long to plow through.

This book is an easy read, very clear, and very informed. The author presents evidence for every claim he makes and makes it obvious when he is sharing his own opinion on a matter. This book is a great intro for anyone who wants to make a careful comparison between John Calvin and John Wesley.
