About the Author
Mike Slaughter is the lead pastor at Ginghamsburg Church. Under his leadership, Ginghamsburg Church has become known as an early innovator of small group ministry, the Church "media reformation," and cyber-ministry. A Must Read for Everyone Wanting to Find or Reignite their Life Purpose

There are so many people in our lives willing to tell us that our God-given dreams can't come true. That's why Pastor Mike Slaughter's book, Dare to Dream: Creating a God-Sized Mission Statement for Your Life, is a must read for every believer, whether a new Christian or seasoned minister, who wants to fulfill their life purpose.
After serving in media ministry for decades, I thought I would glean little from this book's systematic chapter-by-chapter outline for creating a life mission statement. This assumption was grossly incorrect in that Slaughter's wise words encouraged me to reassess my own God purpose as I enter the third age, [senior years] and refueled my passion for my life purpose.
The author's own mission of pastoring what began as a tiny rural church in an Ohio cornfield, which through his over 35 years of leadership, has now grown to be one of the largest United Methodist Churches in the nation, is inspiring. Although I am not of UMC background theologically, this book is written in such a balanced and Biblically accurate way that it will not step on denominational toes. Many churches would find it a dynamic and enlightening small group or Bible study, encouraging congregants to embrace their own passionate purpose for Christ.
Ultimately, Dr. Slaughter suggests that our mission on Earth should not be "about us," but about "Heaven's Legacy." In light of this, he writes, "....the most important mission all of us have is to make sure our children, grandchildren,and future generations will enter God's place of promise."
Dare to Dream's greatest take-away is that when God is commissioning you to do something for Him, despite all the odds, your goal really can become a reality.

Challenging

I am using this for a Bible study at my church. Mike has a wonderful way of teaching. At the end of each chapter he poses 3 questions that help the reader explore what God's purpose for their life is. We are having some great discussions and I am very glad that I chose to use this. Mike's Biblical work is very sound and his practical application is the icing on the cake. Great job.
